Our Center

August 22, 1958 the Resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the USSR Council of Ministers of the organization and building of the Institute of Medical Radiology , Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR ( WRI Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR ) in the city of Obninsk.

Currently, Medical Radiological Research Center is one of the largest in Russia . The Center has created an infrastructure for experimental and clinical studies are highly qualified specialists , has accumulated many years of experience in the development and implementation of new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies . Taking into account the scale of scientific and practical problems successfully solved Institute , Presidium of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in 1992, converted it to the Medical Radiological Research Center ( MRRC RAMS) . The center is the base for the issue of " Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Medicine", a leading institution in the Russian Federation on the development and application of high-tech medicine in radiological diagnosis and treatment of patients.

The center employs 1,741 people, including 25 professors , 61 and 197 candidates for the doctor of medical sciences , 341 Scientist, 134 physician.

In the Medical Radiological Research Center, developed and implemented the latest high-tech medical radiologic technology , contributing to the efficient solution of a number of social problems of national health care . These include innovative radiological treatment technologies that can successfully compete with the traditional methods of treatment : treatment with radioactive iodine -131 patients with toxic goiter and thyroid cancer with distant metastases ( radioiodine therapy ), brachytherapy for prostate cancer with the use of micro sources of iodine -125 , brachytherapy tumor cavity mouth using californium -252 , application of neutron radiation of nuclear reactors and accelerators (remote and neutron - neutron capture therapy ) , and new technology to optimize external beam radiation therapy of malignant tumors by using the most effective dose fractionation schemes , laser , magnetic and photodynamic therapy, concomitant intraoperative remote radiotherapy ; termoradio and gipoksiradioterapiya etc.

The basis of most of the developments MRRC to improve the treatment of patients with malignant neoplasms of the principles of improving survival , organosohrannosti and improve the quality of life.
